TA - finance ministry's clarification

In th O.M.21(2)/2008-E-II(B) dated 29.08.2008 issued by Finance Ministry earlier consequent on implementation of sixth pay Commission recommendations, it was decided to grant higher Transport Allowance to Central Government Employees residing at A1 and A Cities.

Those cities are Hyderabad (UA), Delhi (UA), Bangalore (UA), Greater Mumbai (UA), Chennai (UA), Kolkata (UA), Ahmedabad (UA), Surat (UA), Nagpur (UA), Pune (UA), Jaipur (UA), Lucknow (UA) and Kanpur (UA).

Now, Finance Ministry has in the Office Memorandum No: 21(8)/2010-E-II(B) dated 01.08.2012, observed that some Central Government Offices located in Faridabad and Gurgaon are paying Transport Allowance to its employees at the rates other than that applicable to such areas.  It is clarified in this regard by Finance Ministry that such payments are irregular and that Central Government Employees posted at Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Noida are entitled to Transport Allowance at the rates applicable to other places’(i.e other than 13 classified cities) as per the conditions laid down in this Ministry’s O.M. No. 21(2)/2008-E-II(B) dated 29.08.2008.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject:- Payment of Transport Allowance to Central Government Employees in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaizaibad and Noida.

        It has been brought to the notice of this Ministry that some Central Government Offices located in Faridabad and Gurgaon are paying Transport Allowance to its employees at the rates other than that applicable to such areas and such payment is irregular. It is clarified that the Central Government Employees posted at Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Noida are entitled to Transport Allowance at the rates applicable to other places’ i.e. other than 13 classified cities as per the conditions laid down in this Ministry’s O.M. No. 21(2)/2008-E-II(B) dated 29.08.2008.
