LTC by Air – Travel by Private Airlines not be allowed

LTC by Air – Government has clarified that it has no proposal to allow Air Travel in Private Airlines while proceeding on LTC

The present LTC Rules and clarification issued by Government from time time do not allow Air Travel in Private Airlines while proceeding on LTC. Travel by Air when LTC is claimed can be made only when the a Government Employee / dependent Family Members have purchased LTC 80 Air tickets in Air India

Repeated representations from all quarters are submitted to the Government to allow Air Travel by Private Airlines in the case of LTC when the airfare of Private airlines is less than the Air India LTC 80 Airfare. Air Travel in Private Airlines will also be required in the cases when Government Air Carrier Air India does not operate flights to a destination where the Government Employee intends to travel by air on LTC.

However, Government has recently clarified in the Parliament to the effect that it has no proposal to allow Air Travel by Private Airlines while proceeding on LTC

  1. I went on LTC from Delhi to Kerala from 30.9.2014 to 6.10.2014. by Air (Economy Class). I purchased the tickets from Balmer and Lawrie, Tours and Travels. But due to an emergency I missed flight on 6.10.2014 and due to non-availability of seats in Air India, I had to take GoAir flight at 0820 on 8.10.2014 by Mumbai(Cok–Bom-Del). But my office is asking for a certificate from non-availability of seat on 7th and 8th October which is denied by Balmer and Laurie as preivious dates data is not avaiable. Is there any rule which helps me to claim my return ticket
