Premature retirement of All India Service Officers

The Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) New Delhi, plans to amend the existing Rule 16 (3) of the  All India Services (Death Cum Retirement Benefit) Rules.  As per the new amendment, an Officer can be required to retire in public interst from service on the date on which such member completes fifteen years or twenty five years of qualifying service or attains fifty years of age or on any date thereafter to be specified in the notice.   Presently the rule stipulates thirty years of qualifying service or  fifty years of age.  The DOPT has further clarified that as per the proposed  new rule, the Officers who will be retired prematurely shall be entitled for pensionary benefits in terms of the relevant provisions of AIS (DCRB) Rules.

The above proposed amendment has been circulated all State Governments for offering their comments/suggestions if any within 2 weeks.

Idea is very good.question is how well it is being implemented.as of now there are very good rules &regulations which are being not scrupulously followed for the best reasons known to beaurocrates and politicians.and this rule if implemented for all officers of both central&state services govt future governance will be up to the expectations of people of this great democracy
