RSS Affiliated Trade Union to Protest Ahead of Budget – The stand of BMS holds significance in wake of the fact that it is the largest trade union body in the country.
In an apparent attempt to caution the government against attempting for major labour reforms during the forthcoming Budget, RSS affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has decided to stage nation-wide protest against any tinkering with existing labour laws.
“BMS National Executive has decided to hold demonstration at all district headquarters on 24th February to press government to implement agreed demands and also to stop labour reforms,” Virjesh Upadhay, General Secretary of BMS, announced on Sunday.
“We had made 10 demands at our meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley but just one — bonus for workers — has been acted upon. We are also against labour reforms.” BMS general secretary Virjesh Upadhyaya said.
Speaking, the BMS General Secretary also highlighted that the government has also not fulfilled its promises made to labour organisations agreed during a meeting with a high-level government team led by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last year.
The BMS protest is also being seen as a counter from within the Sangh Parivar to industry pressure for speeding up economic reforms.
The stand of BMS holds significance in wake of the fact that it is the largest trade union body in the country and it is also affiliated to the RSS, which is a parent organization for the ruling BJP as well.
