Government on Wednesday said it has not accepted the ‘One-Rank-One-Pension’ demand but has recommended substantial improvements for pensioners even as ex-servicemen have deposited nine cardboard boxes full of their service medals protesting against the decision.
“Although the OROP demand has not been accepted.. the Committee (under Cabinet Secretary) has recommended substantial improvement in pension of pre January 1, 2006 pensioners and bring pre-October 10, 1997 on par with post October 10, 1997 pensioners, “Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju said in a written reply to a Rajya Sabha query.
The Minister said the committee had not found the OROP demand administratively feasible to be implemented as such.
