Just imagine, you receive or send an envelope with a stamp affixed that contain your or spouce's face in it
This is the innovative idea of Indian Postal department, which is to be launched at the World Philatelic Exhibition to be held from Febrauary 12th to 18th of 2011 in New Delhi.
Indian Postal department is on the wane because of young population is more used to new technologies such as Internet. Also, the private couriers who have a limited goals could surpass India Post in terms of cost, service etc. This Government arm is slowly becoming a white elephant with huge employees base and reducing revenue.
Hence need of the hour is to revamp this department with innovative ideas which will attract especially young community to use India post for their needs.
What Indian Postal Department says about this Novel Method?
Also known as ‘Personalised stamp‘, My Stamp is a wonderful way to celebrate special occassions such as engagements, birth of a baby, or to send as greetings to loved ones and friends. You can now have photographs of yourself and your loved ones on a real India Post stamp sheet. Send out greetings on special occasions with a difference with stamps beaming your photograph or just preserve the stamp sheet.
The template on My Stamp would be printed on the six themes:
- 1. Trains
- 2. Aeroplanes
- 3. Wildlife
- 4. Panchatantra
- 5. Sun Signs
- 6. Taj Mahal
Each template is designed on one of the above themes and has 12 personalised stamps perferated on it. One can get their personalised stamps on their favourite photograph on all of the themes mentioned above. So come to the “My Stamp” counter at the INDIPEX 2011 with your photograph, or have one clicked there and walk out with your very own stamp. All for only Rs. 150 per sheet.
The department has also planned to attract Indian corporates soon by allowing them to print stamps with their brand or logo in it.
