RRB Junior Engineer Syllabus, RRB SSE Syllabus – Railway Recruitment Boards throughout India are going to conduct RRB JEE and SSE Written examination on 17.12.2014 (for RRB JE) and 21.12.2014 (RRB SSE) to recruit Junior Engineer cadre and Senior Section Engineer Cadre under Centralised Employment Notice No: 02/2014

RRB Junior Engineer Examination Pattern :
The Question papers shall be of Objective Multiple Choice Type. The questions paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages as indicated in para 15.
The standard of questions for the written examination will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.
The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and reasoning, General Science and Technical Ability.
The question paper will have 150 questions, out of which about 90 questions will be of Technical Ability & General Science and about 60 questions from General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and reasoning.
The Technical portion of about 90 questions shall cover basic concepts of Science and Engineering as per following details:

Railway Recruitment Boards conducts various recruitment every year. The selection of the candidates in RRBs is a single stage process comprise of only written examination. This year, Junior Engineer group exam will be conducted on 14 December 2014.
The test is held for Junior engineer Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile, Communication, Maintenance, Industrial, IT. Printing Press posts. RRB JE Syllabus 2014 – RRB Junior Engineer Syllabus Exam Pattern
Railway Recruitment Board Junior Engineer written examination is Objective type having 150 questions to be answered in 2 hours. Here is detailed Junior Engineer Syllabus of RRB.
A. General Ability – 60 questions from –
(1) General Intelligence and Reasoning
(2) General Awareness
B. Technical ability / General Science – 90 Questions
Negative marking – 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers given by a candidate.
RRB JE Syllabus 2014 – Part A – General Ability
General Intelligence & Reasoning:-
Number Series, syllogism, Input-Output, Coding-decoding, Direction sense test, Blood relations, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification. Arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding. Statement conclusion. Word Building, Seating arrangement, Clock, Calender. Similarities and differences, analogy, space visualization / orientation. Decision making, visual memory.
Algebra, Interests, Ratio & proportion, percentage, Pipes & Cisterns, Mensuration, Age problems, Data Interpretation, time and distance / work, profit & loss.
Question will be asked from Railway, Rail Budget, New Technologies & Reform in Indian Railway. Indian – History, Polity, Geography, Economy Current affairs, sports etc.
RRB JE Syllabus 2014 – Part B – Technical Ability / General Science
RRB JE Technical Ability Syllabus – In this section, questions are asked from basics of Subjects of respective branch of candidate. A candidate should be familiar with his/her branch basics of engineering subjects.
RRB JE Civil Engineering Syllabus :- Questions will be based on General Civil Engineering. Topics includes Construction/ Structure Engineering and drawing, Estimating, Costing and Valuation & Building Materials, Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Concrete Structures, Steel Structures, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Construction, Water requirements, Highway Planning, Traffic Engineering, Surveying, Coordinate system, Projections, Errors and adjustments, curves, Environmental Engineering, measurements of distance and directions.
RRB JE Mechanical Engineering Syllabus :- Questions from Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Kinematics of Machine, Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Power Engineering, Steam Tables, Thermodynamics cycles, I.C. Engines cycles, Casting, Machining and Machine Tool Operations, Metrology and Inspection subjects topics will be asked.
RRB JE Syllabus 2014 Electrical Engineering :- Questions will be based on topics of Electrical Machines, Basics of circuit & Power Electronics. They will also include Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Analog and Digital Electronics, Circuits and Measurement Systems, Signals and Systems,Electrical Machines, Power and Control Systems etc.

RRB JE Electronics Engineering Syllabus :- Electronic Devices, Energy bands, Signal & Systems, Wireless Communication, Carrier transport in silicon: diffusion current, drift current, mobility, and resistivity. Generation and recombination of carriers. Junctions, diodes, tunnel, Analog and Digital Circuits, & Communication, EMFT, Basics of Signal & Systems , Control System.
RRB Computers Engineering Syllabus :- Computer fundamentals, MS Office, languages, Information systems, DBMS, Operating systems, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Database, Algorithms, Network communication, System programming, Web technology & programming.
Junior Engineer (Printing Press) :- Printing techniques and materials, Offset Printing, Color science, Newspaper printing, Paper & Ink technology, Digital technology & Imaging; Control Application in Printing; Basic concepts of Computers, Printing surface preparation.
Instrumentation & Measurement Engineering :- Questions from Basics of Measurement Systems, Transducers, Circuits, Mechanical Measurement, Industrial Instrumentation, Analog / Digital Electronics, Process Instrumentation will be asked.
Environment & Pollution Control :- Questions will be asked from topics of Environment, Pollution, Sources, Control Methods etc.
Engineering Drawing / Graphics :- Questions will be asked from basics of Drawing.

There shall be negative marking in written examination and marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer @ 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.
Duration: – Duration of the examination will be 120 minutes.
NOTE-I: – Candidates are not permitted to use calculators and other electronic gadgets. They should not, therefore, bring the same inside the Examination Premises. If any candidate is found to possess mobile phone or any other means of wireless communication, in working or switched off mode, his/her candidature shall be cancelled forthwith and he/she will be debarred from RRB examinations.
NOTE-II: – Some of the RRB(s) may offer option for ONLINE examination also.
8.08 Based on the performance of candidates in the written examination, candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for document verification in the main list. In addition, 30% extra candidates are also called as standby. However, they are considered for empanelment only if there is shortfall in empanelment from the main list. During document verification, candidates will have to produce their original certificates. No additional time will be given and the candidature of the candidates not producing their original certificates on the date of verification is liable to be forfeited.
Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates.
