UGC NET NOV 2017: Notification released – Exam on 5th November / Check UGC NET Exam Pattern and other details here
UGC NET NOV 2017 Notification : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the detailed notification for the National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017. Candidates who wish to be eligible for Assistant Professorship or a Junior Research Fellowship can apply online from the official website.
The application process starts from August 11 this year and will carry on till September 11, 2017. The UGC NET NOV 2017 exam will take place on Sunday, November 5. The exam fee for general category candidates is Rs 1000, for OBC is Rs 500 and for reserved classes is Rs 250.
UGC NET NOV 2017 Exam date:
The UGC will conduct the exam in three sessions on November 5 in which the candidates have to score at least 40 per cent (35 for reserved categories) in order to be clear the paper and be eligible for further rounds.
The first two sessions will be for 1 hour and 15 minutes and will contain 50 questions with a total weightage of 100 marks. They will take place from 9.30 am to 10.45 am. The third session will be 2 and a half hours long and will contain 75 questions with a total weightage of 150 marks. This session will be conducted from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
UGC NET NOV 2017 – Important dates :
The application form will be available from August 11, 2017 to 30 August, 2017 on www.cbsenet.nic.in.
Candidates applying for NET exam applying have to submit the fee before September 12, 2017.
The option to correct mistakes in the application forms will be available from September 19 to Sept 25, 2017 and the admit card will be available on the website from October 15.

The candidates applying for the course must have a score of 55% marks in their Master’s degree and those who are giving their final year Master’s are also eligible for the course.
The candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR JRF exams before 1989 are exempted from appearing in NET.
Candidates who have passed the States Eligibility Test (SET) affiliated by UGC before December 1, 2002 (for the post of Assistant Professor) are also exempted.
UGC NET Exam Pattern
While students are eagerly waiting for the NET exam that was earlier scheduled for July, here’s the detail of the exam pattern:
The NET exam comprising three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held in two different sessions.
In the first session (09:30 am to 10:45 am), Paper I and Paper 2 exams will be conducted. In Paper 1, students will have to attempt 50 questions out of 60. The question will carry 2 marks each (50 × 2 = 100).
Paper II will be held from 10:45 am to 12:00 Noon consisting of 50 questions, all compulsory (50 × 2 = 100).
In Paper III, students will get 150 minutes to attempt 75 questions all of which are compulsory. The exam will be held at 1:30 pm.
Qualifying Marks :
Qualifying percentage of marks for general category students will be 40 per cent in Paper I and II and 50 per cent in Paper III. OBC category students will need to secure 35 per cent marks in Paper I, II and 45 per cent in Paper III.
Similarly, students coming under PH/VH/SC/ST category require to get 35 per cent in Paper I and II and 60 per cent in Paper III.
Meanwhile, UGC will take a decision on the final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship before declaration of result.
It is worth mentioning that no negative marking will be there in the exam papers.
