Army Group Insurance Fund – Revised Insurance Cover under AGIF Scheme for Commissioned and Junior Commissioned Officers
Commissioned Officers to get Insurance cover of Rs.50 lakhs for monthly subscription of Rs.5000/- and Junior Commissioned Officers to get Insurance Cover of Rs.25 lakhs for monthly subsription of Rs.2500.
Controller of Defence Accounts has commincated the decision of Board of Members of Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) that Insurance Cover of Commissioned Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers are revised to Rs.50 lakhs and Rs.25 lakhs respectively. Text of CGDA Communication dated 04.06.2013 is given below
Readers may recall an earlier GConnect article which discussed the need of revision of Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme which offers a paltry Insurance cover ranging from Rs.15000 (appicable to Grop D employees) and to Rs.1,20,000 (applicable to Group A Officers).
We feel that Board of AGIF have taken a correct decision to provide a realistic Insurance Cover for Army Officers is really laudable.
We also feel that Central Government should take a leaf out of this decision and revise the Insurance Cover for all Central Government Employees immediately
