On receipt of complaints from pensioners from all over India for non-disbursement of Sixth Pay Commission arrears by the banks, Government has come to the rescue of Senior Citizens. In the latest Office Memorandum dated 14.10.08, banks have been instructed to pay the arrears within one week from the date of issue of the said Office Memorandum.
The said OM also clarified that in terms of Para 4.2 of the OM dated 1.9.2008 (as clarified vide OM dated 3.10.08) minimum pension benefit of Pensioners who retired before 1996, between 1996 to 2006 and after 2006 has been fixed at 50% of minimum pay in the revised pay band plus grade pay corresponding to the old pay scale pertain to the post held by the Govt servant at the time of retirement.
Similarly, it is also ensured that pension benefit of the Family Pensioners is not less than 30% of Minimum pay in the revised pay band plus grade pay corresponding to the old pay scale pertain to the post held by the Govt servant at the time of his retirement or demise as the case may be.
Further in any case, minimum pension and family pension shall not be less than Rs.3,500/-.
This clarification would minimize the pension anomaly that exists between pre 2006 and Post 2006 pensioners as well as Post 2006 Pensioners
